“I heard there's a source that proves it.”

Leads this site could not check: sources it could not open, read only in part, or saw only second-hand. For researchers who want to dig, not evidence.

  1. Why people find it convincing

    • A source that can't be opened feels like it might hold the missing proof.
    • Unread material is where both sides' strongest rumours live.
  2. The picture

What this page is, and what it isn't.

Everything else on this site is built from sources read at the source, with the words on a card. This page is the exception: it lists what could not be checked. Some sources are behind a wall this site does not climb (a login, a bot check, a paywall); some were read only in part or only as quoted by someone else; some were seen only as a headline or a search snippet. Each card says what was tried, when, and what it would settle if it holds. None of it is evidence here, and none of it is used in a verdict elsewhere. If you can read one of these, the honest next step is the same one this site takes: read the passage around the claim, copy rather than retype, and note what the source does not say.

On the pages already, but not read at the source.

These 17 cards appear on argument pages, marked there as not yet read at the source, each with its failed attempts (all listed below). Three quotes in the 'heard in' sections are also still marked unchecked, two of them posts behind a login wall.

Kept off the pages: leads found but not checked.

These came up while checking other things and were not used anywhere, because they could not be read at the source or rest on one side's advocacy alone. Iraqi Jews' registrations to emigrate in 1950–51, which bear on the Baghdad bombings dispute (a pro-Israel writer's blog, behind a bot check; and the one historian's book, read only in part). A Russian bot campaign that, by a French newspaper's account relayed by the Kyiv Post, spread a video threatening Jews at the Paris Olympics. A Haaretz report on Russian disinformation using fake Israeli soldiers, seen only as a headline. Each would need its original read before it could go on a page.

press+972 Magazine / Local Call / The Guardian, investigation into the IDF intelligence database of militants killed (2025) aggregate ✓

21 August 2025 (Yuval Abraham, with Local Call and The Guardian). Military Intelligence data from May 2025: about 8,900 fighters killed (7,330 confirmed, 1,570 probable), against a Health Ministry toll of 53,000 then — 'at least 83 percent' civilians. The army first described the count as 'a complex intelligence process', then, three weeks later, said 'the figures presented in the article are incorrect'. The report's own caveat: the database counts named members only, so 'the total number of militants killed is likely higher than the number recorded'.
